Memorizing memorizing

Now that staging is finished, it's time to play and get the show ingrained.  First, though, we've gotta be off book (meaning have the lines in our heads rather than reading them off the page) because you can't play and be carrying a big ol' script around!  Devion and I were so surprised to discover that we had our lines memorized already for the first section of the play!  We were just chugging along, and suddenly we both realized we weren't using our scripts, which was AWESOME.

In a two person play, though, memorization is always going to be a little bit of a challenge.

Aaaaand we learned that when we started work on the second and third sections.  Those lines, unfortunately, were not magically there.  So we've had to spend some substantial time working on memorization (although you really do learn a lot just through sheer repetition).  

 Fortunately, since we staged the darn thing so quickly, we were able to devote some major time to memorization on Sunday.  Big thanks to Margot2, who helped me out so much.  I'm an aural learner, so the only way to get things in my head is to say them over and over . . . and sweet Margot2 was willing to sit for hours to feed me lines and check me for accuracy.  She even made it -- dare I say -- fun?
